![]() ![]() If you buy a fake, not even Timmy and Tommy will want to buy it. If it’s a statue, it can also be placed anywhere on the island. It can also be used as a normal furniture item to be displayed in your home. The art can be donated to the Museum, provided that it’s genuine. If you never buy either of the two pieces on display from Redd, then the stock will refresh on Monday. Based on our testing, once you buy one of the pieces, the piece you bought will be replaced with a new, random piece of art the next day. On Harv’s island, you can still only buy one piece a day. When he appears here, he’ll have two random pieces of art, which can both either be fake or real. Redd can also be added as a merchant in Harv’s Island Plaza for 100,000 Bells. We’re unsure if Redd’s boat has any unlocking prerequisites (such as needing the Resident Services tent to upgrade to a building before he’ll show up, or needing to donate a certain amount to the Museum). Redd’s boat will appear on random days, similar to other island merchants like Kicks and Flick. The beach is all the way on the back of your island, and if you haven’t terraformed back there, you’ll likely need a ladder to reach it. Redd shows up on a boat at your island’s tiny beach in the north of your island. Another day later, the museum will open with an art exhibit and Redd will start appearing on your island on random days. The next day, the museum will be closed for renovations. This art piece will be genuine.ĭonate the first piece of art to Blathers, and he’ll talk about opening an art exhibit. After declining, he’ll give you a “discount” to 4,980 Bells. Upon talking to him, he’ll offer you a random painting for a for a whopping 498,000 Bells. You’ll then be able to find Redd roaming your island. The day after Blathers talks about art, Isabelle will warn you of shady art dealers during her morning announcements. According to a data mine by Ninji, this will happen once you submit at least 60 donations to the museum (fish, bugs, or fossils). You’ll need to talk to Blathers and have him mention the idea of allowing art before Redd will show up. Once you buy it from Redd, the art will get mailed to you the next day. ![]() From counting the name plates in the museum, there are 43 art pieces to find and donate. It’s also possible for Redd to be selling more than one real piece of art. Based on our experiences, it’s possible for all four of the art pieces to be fake. You can only buy one of the four art pieces displayed, so choose wisely. As in past games, Redd will sell genuine artworks (that can be donated to the Museum) and forgeries (which can’t be donated). Redd will have four different art pieces in on his boat (as well as two pieces of regular furniture). Oh, and can't forget about the forged Famous Painting (Mona Lisa) having that facial expression.Īs for the statues, the Ancient Statue (Shakōki dogū) forgery having its eyes glow blue at night and that it floats when you click on it is fun.Jolly Redd has returned to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, bringing furniture and art with him. I will say that, despite my appreciation for the haunted paintings and how this plays into that as well, I also kind of prefer the finger guns version of this from New Leaf. The Scary Painting (Ōtani Oniji III in the Role of the Servant Edobei) forgery switching from sad to happy at night is also fun. The Graceful Painting (Beauty Looking Back) shifting her position at night is also cool. Still cool and still something I display in my main character's house because it's cool. I wish that was in New Leaf since I had a horror town in New Leaf, whereas my New Horizons island isn't, but alas. I love that the girl in the Wistful Painting (Girl With A Pearl Earring) forgery closes her eyes at night and opens them again in the morning. ![]() Warrior Statue ("Terracotta Army" by unknown artist):.Rock-Head Statue ("Olmec Colossal Head" by unknown artist): He has a friendly smile on his face.I have two of them that I use for decorations outside the museum. Gallant Statute ("David" by Michaelangelo): The book under his arm adds a sophsiticated, academic quality to the sculpture.Serene Painting ("Lady with an Ermine" by Leonardo Da Vinci): I think the grey that Redd adds to the ermine is nice.Graceful Painting ("Beauty Looking Back" by Hishikawa Moronobu): I think the woman taking up the majority of the canvas is much more compositionally pleasing, compared to leaving a noticeable vacancy at the top.Basic Painting ("Blue Boy" by Thomas Gainsborough): His hair looks much less a mess with straight bangs. In all seriousness, while I like all the pieces that you can find in the museum, I have to admit that some of Redd's forgeries sometimes actually enhance the aesthetic of the original art. ![]()
